Artist's Description

This self-portrait was orginally shot with Tri-X B&W film that was pushed in development. Later, I greatly enlarged part of the shot onto high-contrast paper in a darkroom pring to emphasize the film grain and semi-abstraction.

And how do you see the world around you? How do you interpret and filter what you see? I see light, shape, form, gesture, and the "decisive moment." I see questions and feelings in the world around me. For me, photography evolves from my inner vision and thoughts, and I concentrate on artistic expression. Although I grew up with an interest in art, it was not until my senior year in college that I discovered my "voice" in photography. Using traditional darkroom methods, I continued to shoot, print, exhibit, and grow in my personal vision. In the late 1990's, I had the chance to take photography courses at one of the best 2-year programs in the country, and in 2002 I completed my degree in Photography at Daytona State College.
