Artist's Description
In the late 1940's through most of the 1950's, this was the center of town with several thriving businesses. I have fond memories of these shops! But business moved to the more convenient highway. In the late 1960's, the local community college used these buildings to get started until the current campus was built. This image was shot in 1975 when most of the buildings were still intact but vacant. Now most of them are gone, but the memories are still here.

And how do you see the world around you? How do you interpret and filter what you see? I see light, shape, form, gesture, and the "decisive moment." I see questions and feelings in the world around me. For me, photography evolves from my inner vision and thoughts, and I concentrate on artistic expression. Although I grew up with an interest in art, it was not until my senior year in college that I discovered my "voice" in photography. Using traditional darkroom methods, I continued to shoot, print, exhibit, and grow in my personal vision. In the late 1990's, I had the chance to take photography courses at one of the best 2-year programs in the country, and in 2002 I completed my degree in Photography at Daytona State College.
